Frequently Asked Questions

  • Lemon Tree Therapy is a self-pay private practice. We do not accept insurance. Payment in full is always due at the time of your appointment.

However, we can provide a superbill if you’d like to use your out-of-network benefits. Please note that not every health insurance plan offers this coverage and it’s rare to receive full reimbursement for our services.

It’s important to be aware of what resources you have and what you can realistically afford when it comes to considering self-pay therapy services.

  • If you are interested in submitting a superbill to use your out-of-network insurance benefits, it is important to first call your insurance company and ask the following questions:

    • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health visits?

    • How much of my deductible has been met this year?

    • What is my out-of-network portion for outpatient mental health visits?

    • Does my coverage reimburse for CPT codes 90791 and 90834? These are the most common codes used for our services.

    • Are virtual outpatient mental health visits (or teletherapy) covered by my plan?

    • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider or a primary care physician to see someone out-of-network for mental health services?

    • How do I submit claims for out-of-network reimbursement?

Please note that Lemon Tree Therapy, LLC does not submit claims directly to insurance.

  • We accept all major credit/debit cards and cards linked to HSA/FSA accounts. A payment card is required to be kept on file for billing purposes. Payment is always processed at the time of your appointment.

  • Yes, you need to be physically located in the state of Arizona at the time of your appointment to receive therapy services. This is required by the state licensing board.

  • Your first appointment will be a clinical assessment. It’s a chance for me to get to know you better, learn more about what is bringing you to therapy, and allows us to better develop a plan for our work together.

If desired, we can explore possible mental health diagnoses if clinically indicated. A mental health diagnosis is not required for services with me but is required if you plan on submitting a superbill to your insurance company.

  • The length of time someone is in therapy is unique to each individual and their goals. I will make recommendations based on your goals and your progress however, the length of time you commit to therapy is completely up to you.

Typically, people start with weekly sessions to build a strong, consistent foundation. They may then decide to transition to bi-weekly or monthly maintenance sessions as they meet their goals, utilize skills, and are approaching the completion of services.

Whether you need just a handful of sessions or you are in therapy for several months or even years, I’m here to support you through it.
