Counseling for Women in Arizona

Anxiety, Depression, Stress Management, Life Transitions & more

“I’m struggling more than I think I should be”

It’s been a hectic last few years and perhaps you feel like you’ve lost yourself along the way. The daily demands of “adulting” and trying to manage it all have been overwhelming and you’re exhausted.

Maybe you’ve noticed…

  • Anxious thoughts & more worry than usual

  • Low mood, feeling disconnected from others, loneliness

  • Negative self-talk, frequently comparing yourself to others

  • Feeling like you’re not good enough, body dissatisfaction

  • Relationship stress, difficulties at home & work

  • Difficulty adjusting to college, finding work-life balance

It feels like everyone else has it all together.

A WOMAN-CENTERED APPROACH CAN HELP

Together, we’ll work on:

COPING SKILLS

Life is full of surprises — some are welcomed & some are far from ideal. We’ll work on using practical & effective skills to calm your nervous system, connect with your thoughts & feelings, and strengthen your self-advocacy skills.

AUTHENTIC SELF-CARE

This kind of self-care is more than bubble baths & salon appointments. This is staying true to what truly serves your completeness. We’ll explore several aspects of self-care so that you can start “checking-in” rather than “checking-out”.

NEW PERSPECTIVES

You might feel like there’s something “wrong” with you because you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem. The truth is, there are likely experiences, unhelpful narratives, or patterns of behaviors that are keeping you stuck. We’ll take a deeper look to identify and address it at its source.

EMDR Therapy for Women in Arizona

As a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, I know that therapy is the best place to explore, process, reduce and/or eliminate distress from a traumatic experience. I offer EMDR therapy for women interested in using this evidence-based technique to address symptoms related to trauma. Helping your nervous system heal can be life changing and many experience an improvement in symptoms after just one reprocessing session.

Frequently Asked Questions about Counseling for Women

FAQs

  • A woman-centered approach to counseling for women acknowledges the impact biological, environmental, relational, & societal factors have on women’s health & wellbeing. This includes awareness of how gender roles, shifting hormones, and cultural expectations impact the wellbeing & wellness of women.

  • We’ll meet via phone for a free 15-minute consultation to make sure I’m the right therapist for you! I require an initial consultation for all new clients because ensuring a good fit is so important.

During the phone call, I’ll ask a few questions to learn more about you and why you’re seeking therapy. I’ll tell you about my approach, review cost of sessions (which you can find here!), and my recommended frequency of appointments — this is way you have a clear understanding of what to expect should we decide to work together.

If either of us decide that we’re not the best fit, that’s okay — I can still help by referring you to another therapist or a local agency that can better fit your needs and/or preferences.

  • One of the primary benefits of paying privately for mental health therapy is that you don’t have to have a diagnosis to receive professional support. No one is perfect & everyone has difficulties — therapy provides an optimal environment for personal-growth, healing, & wellness. Therapy is the best kind of self-care.

  • I truly believe that anyone & everyone could benefit from therapy. Your problems don’t have to be “bad enough” for therapy in order to find value in therapy. We often minimize the impact our experiences & challenges have on us — that is, until we feel safe enough to take a deeper look into them. Therapy is just that, a safe space to share, explore, process, & heal.

Even if you don’t think things are “bad enough”.

  • Yes. I consider my practice to be “full spectrum” in terms of women’s wellness & reproductive health. Whether you are currently considering, or have already experienced, a release of pregnancy, I can help.

I provide unbiased support for women exploring all options (pregnancy, parenting, adoption, abortion) and have completed advanced trainings specific to this area of need.
