“Carrying this invisible burden makes me feel even more alone”

It’s been hard trying to navigate these feelings by yourself. It effects all areas of your life — your self-esteem, your relationships, your ability to be present & focus, even your ability to eat & sleep. You didn’t imagine this happening to you & it’s been difficult connecting with others who simply don’t understand.

Maybe you’ve noticed…

  • Increase in crying, feelings of hopelessness, & loneliness

  • Anxiety & fear related to doctors appointments or onset of menstrual cycle

  • Depression, trouble sleeping, changes to your appetite

  • Feeling disconnected from partner, increase in arguments

  • Experiencing guilt, shame, or anger

  • Distancing yourself from friends/family who are pregnant or have babies

COUNSELING FOR REPRODUCTIVE MENTAL HEALTH CAN HELP

Together, we’ll work on:

BUILDING CONNECTIONS

Connection is important but often difficult during this journey. We will work to identify and strengthen the connections that matter the most to you, whether those are with yourself, your partner, the loss you are grieving, or your faith + spirituality. I can provide you with information & resources so you can connect with a community of other women with shared experiences for additional support.

COMPLEX EMOTIONS

It can often feel like you’re on a rollercoaster given the unpredictability and complexity of the emotions & decisions involved. It can be overwhelming trying to overcome and understand everything that you’re experiencing. We will work on holding space for all your feelings & honoring the purpose they serve while practicing self-compassion & self-awareness for greater emotional wellbeing.

PROCESSING GRIEF

Grief often feels like a wave, being present but manageable one moment & knocking you down the next. Grief is different for everyone. You may be grieving another unsuccessful cycle, pregnancy or infant loss, or the pain of a past loss that has resurfaced during your journey to motherhood. You might be grieving a part of you or your relationship that has been lost in all of this. We will work to process the complexities of your grief so that you can continue to put one foot in front of the other.

You don’t have to do this alone.

I provide compassionate & empathetic support to women as they explore, overcome, and confront the complex emotions of infertility & loss. I hold space for whatever you may experience on your journey, whether that be tears of hurt & anger during the most difficult times or hopefulness & excitement during the better times. This season in life is often a roller coaster of decisions & emotions — I’m here to help you gain more control over the things you can control.

I help women establish healthy self-care practices, reduce stress, calm anxiety, & improve mood for emotional wellbeing. This can help optimize health & wellness during pre-conception, pregnancy, & postpartum. I offer EMDR for reproductive & medical-related traumas. I utilize mindfulness-based practices to help women connect with their mind & body and strengthen the relationships they have with themselves & their partner. I support women through the decision making process, as they consider their options and next steps for family building & reproductive health.

This season in life is not what you asked for, or maybe even expected, but please know you are not alone.

EMDR Therapy for infertility, pregnancy & infant loss

EMDR Therapy has been shown to be helpful in addressing and reducing the distress & disturbance related to fertility treatments, medical procedures, pregnancy & infant loss, and worries about the future.

Women experiencing fertility challenges & miscarriage may also experience intense emotion around specific times of the month, especially near ovulation or when their menstrual cycle is due. It’s not uncommon to find medical procedures related to assisted reproductive technology, such as ultrasounds, egg retrievals, and embryo transfers, to be a source of increased anxiety & worry.

Many women find the “two week wait” to be full of complex emotions, along with significant dates such as estimated due dates, birthdays, dates of loss, and milestones during pregnancy. Confusing emotions are also commonly experienced during the pregnancy & birth following a loss.

Counseling for infertility, pregnancy & infant loss can help …

  • Process complex emotions

  • Navigate difficult decisions

  • Learn coping skills for medical anxiety

  • Strengthen connection with yourself & partner

  • Receive support with grief

  • Address worries about the future

Together, we will discover the courage & strength that’s already within you.
